AISLING'S CHILDREN

Tales of the homecoming

Alba, 1320.

Witnessed through the eyes of Aisling, the Declaration of Arbroath is drawn up and signed - setting in motion a series of historical events that will not only change a nation but will shake the world. Featuring historical figures from throughout Scottish clan history and fictional characters to illustrate our story, Aisling's Children weaves a magical tale from the very cradle of a nation to the present day and takes its rightful place as the jewel in the crown of The Homecoming celebrations.

On an historic location unequalled in its majesty throughout the British Isles and at the greatest gathering of clans' folk ever held - a sweeping theatrical story erupts from the site of the ancient volcano. It takes us from momentous battles to secret love stories, from epic voyages through tales of extraordinary courage. And all the while the steady hand of Aisling guides us down the ages and along the generations. She weaves a tartan thread that stretches back into the farthest reaches of time and out to the present-day heart of every Scot who knows that he or she is a Scot, no matter where in the world they live. It is an ancient drum beating in the chest and now ready to play. A bloodline coiled around times past now set to spring.

Under the direction of Mark Murphy and featuring a 200 strong cast of exceptional actors, dancers and musicians teamed with a stellar production line-up featuring writer Raymond Ross, composer Jim Sutherland, designer Dan Potra and lighting designer Phil Supple, Aisling's Children is an uplifting story that places the nation at the heart of the people and its people at the heart of a nation. An epic tale of a country's pride in its past and its passion for the future.

Sweeping theatrical spectacle and touching intimate detail all bound by a powerful narrative, Aisling's Children...tales of the homecoming is the story of the children of Scotland finally coming home.
