The Loonatic Traveller

As AF5051 touched down at Charles De Gaulle (CDG) airport they started boarding AF332 to Boston. The challenge was to get across CDG in 20 minutes. For those who have been to this masterpiece of airport designs, you need to combine the speed and fitness of a marathon runner and the patience of a fisherman. The speed is required as you race down miles of concrete tunnels, the patience as you wait for the connecting buses. Today nobody is in a rush. The entire staff and passengers are on Prozac......only I have a deadline. Eventually bathed in sweat I arrive at Gate 96.....there are only 96 Gates in CDG and 96 is Right at the end. No congratulations, no medals, just another long flight ahead. To compound the agony our flight will take me back over Scotland, from whence I had started. I have saved the company over £100 and shortened my life expectancy by a few years!

Jamie at New Hampshire Highland Games

Welcome to The Gathering 2009. It has been a strange week. A very mild and sunny Edinburgh, that is until we decided to shoot a video for the website. The idea is to give our potential customers a taste of The Gathering 2009. I just hope that I convey the same level of enthusiasm that Michael Palin has in his travel logs. Showing boyish enthusiasm in your late 50's is not easy......I have a scary feeling that I will look too old......such is vanity!

Anyway we get the Castle, the Palace, the Royal Mile and the Royal Park all shot in the space of an hour.....with a grey background.....not bad for an amateur.

Meanwhile back at the control Centre Lucy-Rose orchestrates my next commitments. Speak to X, email Y, rewrite copy for an advertisement. It is amazing to realise that we have just less than two years in which to organise The Gathering.  But such is the genuine level of enthusiasm for the event that I really enjoy promoting it.....

This weekend, Sept 21-23rd, is the annual New Hampshire Games held in Loon Mt, New Hampshire.  It is one of the top Highland Games in the USA.  I am going to promote The Gathering, talk to the clans and conduct some research into our proposed pricing structure. It is also the ‘Fall' in New Hampshire and I am looking forward to seeing it all for real.
