PIPE BANDS

The Gathering 2009 is, first and foremost, a celebration of the clans' contribution to the history and culture of Scotland. Therefore it will come as no surprise that pipe bands will play an important part in the event.

On Saturday 25th July 2009 Inverclyde are hosting the European Pipe Band Championship, which will attract most of Scotland's competitive pipe bands. However, we are fortunate that the event finishes on the same day, and that we will have the services of the leading bands for the Clan Parade and the second day of The Gathering on Sunday July 26th.

The directors of The Gathering 2009 are fully aware of the desire of pipe bands to want to attend the event, but would like to stress the ceremonial nature of the occasion, and subsequent limitation of the number required.

We would therefore like to ask pipe bands interested in playing at any part of The Gathering 2009 to fill in the application below. The deadline for applications is 1st May 2008. We will inform successful bands by 25th May 2008.

SOLO PIPERS

We are intending on holding a solo piping competition.  This is likely to be managed by the National Piping Centre. More details to follow.
